Digital Art and Traditional Art Compared

Charles Traditional Arts

There are several similarities between the beginnings of a new digital paint art or design and one made with more traditional methods. The first step either is an inspirational or a simple sketch. With traditional art and digital art, most artists start with a rough sketch. Some even go so far as to get a professional artist to complete it for them.

Another way the two compare is in the use of brushes. The traditional painting uses a large number of different brushes, each with its own purpose and use. In digital art, the painter may only need a single brush to paint the canvas. This simplification can be seen in the choice of the brushes used in a painting or a photo editing program.

Another comparison that can be made between traditional art and digital art is in the process of creation. Traditional artists start out with a rough sketch. They then spend time creating a detailed and often complex sketch. They then work on a more detailed version of their original sketch. After that, they will polish up the drawing and make any changes that they desire before painting the final version.

Digital painters do not start off with a complete and detailed sketch. Instead, they begin by making a basic layout on the canvas. Then they choose colors for their sketches. They simply apply this coloring to the canvas with paint in the same way a traditional artist would.

Another way in which digital art and traditional art are similar is in the use of a palette. Palettes, or channels as they are sometimes referred to, are crucial to the process of traditional art. Traditionally, each channel was painted with different colors to represent each stage of the painting. A traditional artist would adjust their brushes to match the color in the channel that was being painted in order to create the desired effect. Today, digital artists use specialized tabletops to do this same thing, but for a different reason.

Tabletops allow artists the ability to apply final touches to their artwork before they attach it to the canvas. A traditional artist would use old fashioned brushes to apply the final touches to their paintings. Digital artists have the advantage of programs like After Effects, where they can apply digital paint to their final touches in just a few seconds. Once this paint is on the final touches of the painting, it can be easily blended with other types of paint. This allows an artist the ability to create a perfect painting that will appear perfect when it is completely completed.

One similarity between traditional art and digital art is that both require the artist to have certain skills and knowledge of how to properly manipulate the tools that are used to create the final painting. The tools available to modern artists for digital art are far more advanced than those available to traditional artists. Traditional artists need to know how to properly use hardware such as routers and dials to do what a computer does for them digitally. They also need to know how to use software such as Adobe Photoshop to adjust their final touches to the painting.

One of the biggest similarities between traditional art-making and digitally made art is that artists must have a studio and a place to work in order to complete their artwork. It would not be possible for traditional artists to make their paintings in their garages with supplies purchased at the local grocery store. A traditional artist will typically rent space to do their work. In some cases, studios may be rented for entire months at a time. There is absolutely no way that a person could create any type of art without a studio in which to do the creation.
